Question:
A complete explanation about nomenclature of ethers
Answer:

The following points should be understood when giving names to ethers.

1. Recognise that the molecule is an ether by its general form-
R1-O-R2

2. Identify the componenets labelled "R1" and "R2" here.
For this use the standard system of labelling carbon chains as for alkanes.

3. According to the standard system for naming ethers, the shorter of the two chains "R1" and "R2" should be the first part of the name with the "-ane" suffixand that applies to the corresponding alkane changed to -oxy, and the name of the longer alkane chain forming the suffix of the name of the ether.

Exmaple, CH3OCH2CH3 is methoxyethane and not ethoxymethane.

CH3-O-CH3 - methoxy methane

CH3-O-C2H5 - methoxy ethane, and so on.
